Frequently Asked Questions

Question:  I'm not very athletic, but I would like to try a sport.  What do you recommend?

Answer:  Experimenting with a sport is like going out for coffee...  In other words, you begin with small steps - you're not getting married!  Not yet, anyway.  If you are more of an introvert, consider individual sports such as bicycling, swimming - even just walking regularly.  More extroverted?  Team athletics may be more to your liking:  tennis, pickleball, softball.  Near a golf course?  Borrow some clubs and try hitting at the driving range.  Best of all, if you have a spouse or friends who are "into" a game, tag along with them and see what it's like.

Question: Is there a maximum age for playing sports?

Answer:  No.  It depends on the individual.  Some 90 year-olds still hit the links regularly, and a 91+ year-old tennis player plays several times weekly.  Listen to your body:  if a lot of speed and stamina are required for a game (think, for example, of soccer), and that's not you, focus instead on what is you - maybe electric bicycling, or swimming.
